When Stuart came to us saying he wanted a pool that’s original, modern, clean lines and “something that’s really out there” we came up with a concept which was exactly that. We had been waiting for someone brave enough to step outside the box of the standard blue pool design and Stuart loved the idea of such a unique pool.

Because we were using red tiles we had to be careful with the tile we chose because we were using such a dominant colour there was a thin line between tacky and tasteful. We imported about 10 different samples of red glass mosaics from china until we found one we agreed would leave us with the spectacular result we envisioned. The pool would also act as a striking water feature, with the water trickling down the negative edge wall into the balance tank as you drive up the long driveway, aswell as the mirror type reflection of the gumtrees and distant mountains from the top view of the pool.

By using thick polished concrete around the pool and for the two pads in the middle of the swimout, it a gives it a floating effect. This was also achieved by co-ordinating the height of the negative edge wall with the bottom of the concrete.

The pool was strategically positioned to maximise the view of the mountains and the large front paddock with the water vanishing of the negative edge into the amazing view. It also adjoins the alfresco area giving it a flow from pool to alfresco area through to a bar/pool room providing a perfect outlook when entertaining.

The spa was tiled in black mosaics to match in with the black mirror feature wall and also to break up the red tiles. We wanted to keep the mirror effect on the water by keeping the spa under water level so we designed the spa to sit slightly under the water level and added a return line to the balance tank allowing Stuart to drop the water in the pool lower than the spa when the spa was in use.
